The C.D.F is an independent non profit NGO. It was founded in December 10th 1989 . It adopts the international declaration of Human Rights , and the fourth chapter of the Syrian constitution.
C.D.F Goals
The C.D.F aims at :
- spreading the human rights culture via media and educational means.
- revealing the HR violations.
- amending constitutional laws to be harmonious with the HR international criteria.
- monitoring the Judiciary
- recognizing the rights of women and children as it is stated at the international treaties to protect them from discrimination.
- protecting environment.
- creating solutions for the corruption phenomenon.
- separation of authorities.
- independence of judiciary.
Urgent tasks for C.D.F
The C.D.F in Syria seeks to :
- lift the state of emergency and stop the martial lows.
- stop the arbitrary detentions and release opinion detainees.
- cancel the exceptional tribunals and their verdicts.
- give back the rights of the denaturalized citizens.
- give back the civil rights for the citizens who are dispossessed of.
- bind the Syrian government to observe the International Convention Against Torture.
- put an end to the case of the exiled citizens, and to allow them to come back to Syria.
- issue a low that legislate civil and political associations and parties.
- cancel the list of those who are prevented from traveling outside Syria.
- cancel the exceptional laws, such as that of hanging all who belong to Muslim Brothers group, known as article 49 and others.
- call on the Syrian government to endorse the Rome Statute of the International Crime Court.
- pressure the Syrian authorities to legally recognize the C.D.F , and all other civil NGOs.
C.D.F Methods of work
The C.D.F aims mainly at uncovering the HR violations by means of :
Releases ,statements, leaflets , E. magazines , paper magazines , a website , the annual report , setting and participating in workshops inside and outside Syria , coordination with other NGOs in Syria , addressing the government , issuing researches , publishing books to aware citizens of the Human Rights culture.
The C.D.F organizational body
The C.D.F held its second general assembly meeting between 24th and 26th of August 2006.The secretary council was elected as following :
