RELEASE OF LEBANESE HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDERS
NO OFFICIAL CHARGES WERE MADE

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN) welcomes the release of well-known human rights defender Samira Trad (individual member of the EMHRN) yesterday by the Lebanese Security Services.

However, the EMHRN points to the fact, that the Lebanese Security Services have not presented any formal charges against Samira Trad, a legal action that is required for arrest, and that Ms Trad has been informed, that she is not allowed to leave Lebanon.

The EMHRN asks the Lebanese authorities to restore Samira Trad’s freedom of movement and to allow her continue working within the field of human rights, in accordance with international human rights standards.
